OutlookExpress

Note: This wiki is now frozen; you can no longer edit it, and no interactive features work.

If you're an OutlookExpress user, you should use SpamBayes via either the Pop3Proxy or the ImapFilter, according to the way you receive your email. The OutlookPlugin is only for the full version of Outlook, and does not work with OutlookExpress.
Configuring OutlookExpress

I've set up SpamBayes with OutlookExpress on one of my home accounts. The biggest annoyance for me was finding the mailboxes in order to train SpamBayes. There are a couple of hidden directories you have to work through to get at the mailboxes. Depending on where Outlook Express is installed, the directory structure may vary a little, but here's the gist for Windows XP Professional:

C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{2C7C8CD0-78FA-447F-BF26-AD311A20AC70}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Inbox.dbx

"Local Settings" and "Application Data" are hidden files, so you have to take that into account when looking for them. "Bob" is the username of the person using OutlookExpress. "{2C7C....AC70}" is a Microsoft-defined GUID (I've only ever seen one GUID-type directory here) that may vary. I modified the one from my machine, so do not try to copy-n-paste the one above. "Inbox.dbx" is the file corresponding to a mailbox folder in Outlook Express. I actually have "spam.dbx", "ham.dbx", and "Inbox.dbx" files that I train SpamBayes that correspond to "spam", "ham", and "Inbox" folders in OutlookExpress. "spam" and "ham" are folders I created specifically for use with SpamBayes.

BTW, I'm a bit new to adding pages to a Wiki, so please feel free to correct bad Wiki-protocol/etiquette on my part.

Please also holler at me on two accounts. First, if I've missed somewhere in the SpamBayes documentation that this information already exists. Second, if I'm writing at the wrong level of detail for this Wiki (I can go more or less technical if it helps).
