Entrian Source Search: Frequently Asked Questions.
What is Entrian Source Search?
It's a Visual Studio add-in that lets your search your source code, simply and
instantly. See the main product page for the full
sales pitch!
What is it not?
It isn't a web search engine - it searches your own code on your own hard
drive.
It isn't a standalone application - you need to have Microsoft Visual Studio to
use Entrian Source Search.
Which versions of Visual Studio does it work with?
Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008, not including
Visual Studio Express (because Express doesn't support addins).
How much does it cost?
$59 per developer full price, but it's just $29 during the beta. We expect
the beta to end in October 2008. Licenses purchased during the beta will
be valid for the full product.
Can I get a volume discount?
Yes: if you buy a multi-user license for five users or more in a single
transaction, you get a 20% discount.
What about Sales Tax / VAT?
There's no US Sales Tax to pay because Entrian Source Search is an
electronic-only product sold from California. VAT must be paid on EU purchases,
but we absorb the cost. You as an EU customer don't pay the VAT - we pay
it. (If you're an EU business with a VAT ID we ask that you enter your ID on
the order form, because that saves us the VAT. Let's not give the tax man
more than his due!)
How does licensing work?
There are two kinds of license: Individual and Multi-user. If you fill in a
Quantity of more than 1 on the Buy page, you get a Multi-user license.
An Individual license allows a single developer to use Entrian Source Search on any number of machines. Individual licenses are named ("Licensed to Fred Bloggs") and licenses are transferable between developers - just drop us an email and we'll change the name for you (but we won't sue you if Fred leaves your company and Joe takes over his license without telling us).
A Multi-user license allows a given number of developers to use Entrian Source Search simultaneously. These are also named ("Acme Corp - 10 users").
How does the 30 day trial work?
When you install the trial version, it starts counting the individual days when
you use Entrian Source Search to search your code. (So if you don't use it
for a while, your trial won't expire.) After 30 actual days of usage, the
trial expires and you'll need to buy a license to continue using it.
What's the upgrade policy?
When you buy a license, you buy the perpetual right to use the current version and
any version released within one year of your purchase. If you want
to upgrade to a version released more than one year after your purchase,
you need to buy an upgrade license. We guarantee that upgrade licenses
will never cost more than 40% of the current full license price.
What if I want a refund?
In most cases we'll give a refund on request. We want you to be delighted
with our software - if you're not, we'd love to know why not so we can try
to fix it, but if we can't, you can certainly have a refund. A refund
invalidates your license - you must stop using Entrian Source Search once
you've received a refund.
How does technical support work?
Technical support is by email and web form
only. We promise a real response
from a real person within 24 hours (but we try to be much quicker than that).
Currently we don't offer telephone support or paid priority support - if you're
interested in these, please do let us know.
All users of Entrian Source Search are entitled to technical support, but those with a current license (that is, a license purchased or upgraded within the last year) will get priority.
Entrian Source Search sucks!

Entrian Source Search rocks!
Tell us - we want to know! We're in it for our egos
as well as the money 8-) Give us a glowing testimonial and we'll put it on our
home page.
